Part 1 - 10 % Planning
Post to your blog responses to the following guiding questions:
Why have you chosen to complete an e-portfolio?
So basically I want to do a e-portfpolio for a number of reasons. First someday I might actually apply for a job in education, so this e-portfolio might actually come in handy. I hate doing useless assignments for school that involve say writing an essay about the history of World War II. Where-as this assignment is actually going to be useful. Another reason which I probably shouldn't say, but since Jay is a firm believer in collegiality. I have to also make a e-portfolio for another one of my classes so I figure I can spend more time on the e-portfolio and make it twice as good.
What professional uses does an e-portfolio have for you?
Im not really sure about all the professional advantages of an e-portfolio but I know it may become important for an interview later on in life. Also It is a good way to show that you are technologically savvy and can create a website. Right now for me it means handing in an assignment worth 25%.
What content do you plan to include?
I have looked at a few other e-portfolios and plan to model mine after a few of them. I want to take an indepth look at myself my philosophies and my fututre in education and project it as safetly as possible on the web.
What graphic design considerations have you taken into account for the look of your e-portfolio?
I think you mean like dreamwork or flash? I have some moderate experience using both dreamworks and flash as have created a few website before and used to be a hardcore gamer. Which required me to create my own avatars and signatures from flash. So I plan on creating some of my own or maybe borrowing some from the internet.
(Include a drawing, sketch or layout to show what you pages may look like.)
I will provide a sketch later on when I have more of an idea of what the layout is going to look like.
What concerns do you have about the process? How do you plan to address these concerns?
Some concern I have are problems with dreamweaver and not being able to organize thing how I want them. I think I will probably want it to be a lot nicer then what I will be able to create, maybe try to incorporate some php stuff into it, but I will have to hit up my brother hard for some help with that. I plan on working hard and using site such as lynda.com to help me further my dreamweaver knowledge.
Write more on this later.
Well done Michael. I always look forward to your honest approach to life. I am curious to see how your hardcore gamer skills will transfer to your e-portfolio. I know very little about php so I will have to split my cheque with your brother.
